Project Summary
HVAC Heating Water System Renovation
Escambia County had (3) existing boilers serving their downtown government complex. Only 1 of these boilers was actually functional. There was a clear lack of redundancy and efficiency with the current boiler system. The equipment was beyond repair, thus facilitating the need to replace the boilers in an expedited fashion to provide adequate heat for workers during the winter months.

60 Days - The project was scheduled for 60 days. While the calendar spanned 74 days, 26 days were paused for equipment delays, so actual work was completed in 48 days.
-
Completed on a tight schedule during winter, coordinating with the owner to ensure uninterrupted heat for end users.
The Challenge
The main challenge of this project was created by the time of year these boilers were being replaced. We had to get heat back on the building as fast as possible or the end-user would have had a substansail impact to their day to day functions. Another challenge was the created by the mechanical room location and the location of the building.
This building is located in a busy part of town and the mechanical room is nestled between their drive-through lane and parking garage. The majority of this work was completed during the buildings hours of operation so tight coordination was required.
the solution
This project required precise planning and execution of our work. Scheduling around anticipated lead times for the new equipment allowed us to utilize our prefab capabilities to help minimize time onsite. We utilized skilled pipefitters and welders to do this project, ensuring no mistakes were made during installation.
The Air Design Systems team working together with the owner alloed us to deliver a functional finished product on time.
The Benefits
We followed the PAS rule when selecting the equipment on this project (Price Availability Specification). This essentially translates into: the equipment we selected is of a high quality that we can stand behind, while also having the availability/lead time to meet the shortest turnaround time for the owner, and fit within the budget
-
The equipment we selected is of a high quality that we can stand behind
-
The new system is more efficient and reliable than the previous system
-
The owner will experience energy savings while having a system they can rely on for years to come
